We are here because on my second work trip to London in about 2003, after landing at six in the morning at Heathrow, I couldn’t remember where I found the cash machine, how I weaved, sweating through the airport to find the Underground, and to catch the right train and make a transfer or second connection to get me to my hotel. And, if you haven’t had the pleasure, one of the longest walks you can take in your life, after maybe getting fired, is landing at Heathrow.
That was the day I started taking notes, as well as notes in many other cities counting on the fact that the start of every trip didn’t need to be a stressed-out adventure.
I travel quite a bit now. I can count on something going wrong every time. I am prepared as I can ever be. But now, I find sharing my notes and my philosophy helps those who are starting out, venturing to new places, or are also tired and want an edge in limiting things that raise your blood pressure.
I enjoy European travel for the most part because I am a fan of classic paintings and being able to move around freely on reliable public transportation. I eat well when I travel; so, a big portion of my budget is for dinners.
Otherwise, I spend time on other writing ventures, horseback riding and road cycling.
I’m originally a San Francisco native and live there now. I’ve lived in Los Angeles, Chicago and Bermuda.
I decided to go live because so many friends and business associates have asked for my travel notes, and after returning home joyous and ready to share their own stories, recommended I do this because to further spread my advice and encouragement to others to try new experiences.
